Marine Harvest issued its second quarter report yesterday, showing a drop in operational earnings of 64% from quarter 2 in 2007.
However, the company expects improvements in the next two periods partly due to favorable pricing. Overall, production increases in Norway, North America, and Scotland will offset a 50,000 ton decline in production in Chile.
Also the company has got more control of its ISA problem, as its own outbreaks are now confined to two sites, while the rest of the industry in Chile is seeing increased ISA. Marine Harvest is moving towards closed containment smolt rearing systems in Chile.
