Fal Fish - long service awards |
Employees at Redruth-based seafood processors Falfish have been recognised for their long term commitment to the company at an awards ceremony held last week.
Seven employees were honoured for dedicating more than 110 years of service between them to Falfish, with awards presented by managing director Mark Greet and chairman Ian Greet, followed by lunch with the company directors.
The long service awards were given to employees who had reached the 10, 15, 25 or 30 year milestones working for Falfish. Four employees; commercial director Edward Polley, driver Jon Ponder, production operative Sharon Morris and production manager Kevin Webber received the 10-year awards and driver Colin Andrewartha was given the 15-year award.
Simon Chenoweth, accounts manager at Falfish was rewarded for 25 years service, having joined the company in 1986, and the 30-year service awarded was given to fresh fish trading director Chris Southworth, who joined Falfish in 1981.
Speaking after the awards ceremony on Thursday 9 August, Simon Chenoweth from Redruth said: “I joined Falfish as an office junior back when there was only one other person working in the office, and when I started I sat down with Ian Greet and said I wanted a long-term career, which is exactly what I have had. I’ve progressed within the company by learning from the people I work with, and now I’m lucky enough to be in the position of having a job I love with a company I hope to stay with forever.
“It’s definitely a good thing to be recognised for the work you put in, I think it’s very empowering for the staff. The way they chose to give the award partly as vouchers for the individual and partly as money to celebrate with your family was brilliant, and reflects the family-focussed ethos of the company.”
As thanks to the long serving staff for their commitment to Falfish, each of the honoured employees received a personalised engraved lead crystal gift, high street shopping vouchers and a gift to go towards celebrating with family or loved ones.
Mark Greet, managing director of Falfish said: “We recognise that the successful growth of the company is dependent on the efforts of our employees in providing an excellent service to our customers. All of the staff honoured at the long term service awards have shown fantastic dedication and commitment and deserve to be recognised for that.
“I would like to say a special thank you to Simon Chenoweth and Chris Southworth for the 25 and 30 years they have dedicated to Falfish – we are profoundly grateful to them both and look forward to many more years of working together!”
“We would also like to take the opportunity of thanking ALL of our staff for their commitment and support during this time of business growth. With just 25 staff with over 150 years’ service, we look forward to the next round of celebrations.”
